The Rhythm of Istanbul: The Ritz-Carlton, ELLE, and a Story Filled with Creative Inspiration

In 2022, Istanbul played host to a unique Ritz-Carlton story that brought together movement, mixology, and the city’s creative energy. Line Production Turkey provided local production services for the Istanbul shoot, which featured American choreographer and principal ballerina Lauren Lovette alongside award-winning Istanbul-based mixologist Begüm Ural.

Realized as part of the “Artisans’ Tales” collaboration between The Ritz-Carlton and Hearst, this project explored how travel can inspire creativity by uniting visiting artists with local talent from around the globe. In the Istanbul chapter—produced in partnership with ELLE—Lovette and Ural forged a connection through the concept of “rhythm,” expressed by one through dance and by the other through the meticulous movements and ingredients of mixology.

Istanbul itself emerged as a central character in the story. Spanning the continents of Europe and Asia, the city provided a visual and cultural backdrop where historic architecture, contemporary life, the Bosphorus, and a thriving creative scene intertwined. While Lovette drew inspiration from the city’s colors, landscapes, and diverse eras, Ural looked to local ingredients, Turkish culinary traditions, and the atmosphere of Istanbul to craft cocktails that told their own stories.
Situated in the Dolmabahçe district overlooking the Bosphorus, The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul complemented this narrative by blending contemporary luxury with nods to Turkish heritage and local craftsmanship. The resulting film transformed hospitality-focused content into… …transformed it into a far more comprehensive portrait of Istanbul, shaped around the themes of movement, sensory experience, and cultural discovery.

The Istanbul production was part of a broader, video-centric campaign featured across The Ritz-Carlton and Hearst platforms, encompassing social media, editorial content, and short films. According to the campaign’s Shorty Awards submission, the wider “Artisans’ Tales” initiative garnered over 12 million impressions, proving that destination-focused storytelling can transcend the boundaries of traditional hotel advertising.

For the local production team, this project served as a fresh example of Istanbul’s strength as a destination for international advertising and branded content production. By uniting the global luxury hospitality experience with international creative talent and authentic local voices, The Ritz-Carlton project showcased both the cultural rhythm of Istanbul and Türkiye’s capacity to host sophisticated productions for leading global brands.
